Dr. Waldo, DC, BS, BA, CSCS, his lovely bride Katie, and their baby girl Addison live in Elgin, IL. Steve is the youngest of 3 children and grew up in the northern suburbs of Illinois. He has gained numerous academic and athletic awards in baseball at the high school and collegiate level. He had the privilege to extend his education by performing his internship at the Berto Center and the Chicago Bulls. Steve graduated with a BA from Trinity International University and a minor in Coaching and Fitness Specialist in 1999.  Steve was the recipient of The National Major of Year Award from the National Academy of Sports and Physical Education, he was the captain of his college baseball team at Trinity and was asked to compete in many major league scouting events but his professional dreams fell short.  Steve thanks God for that unanswered prayer because he would not have met his wonderful wife and furthered his educational career to becoming a doctor.

After graduation, Steve became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the NSCA and was hired at College Park Athletic Club in Deerfield, IL as a fitness specialist.  He worked there for 3 years for many junior high, high school and collegiate athletes as well as the public, helping them attain their fitness goals. At this point Steve realized that he wanted to help people more than he was already doing. He entered National University of Health Sciences (formerly National College of Chiropractic) in Lombard, IL and earned a BS in Human Biology and graduated December of 2005 as a Doctor of Chiropractic. Dr. Waldo is a member of the American Chiropractic Association (ACA), Illinois Chiropractic Association, and the National Strength and Conditioning Association.   Patient Testimonials:

General

Dr. Waldo has turned my skepticism about chiropractic care into belief. He patiently explained the benefits all while treating various painful spots. Most importantly, he taught me about the use of chiropractic care as an alternative treatment for my children’s health. After having struggled through various respiratory conditions last year, including pleurisy, and several bouts of pneumonia, I agreed to try his approach. I am so pleased that the children have not gotten sick. A quick trip to Dr. Waldo when they show initial symptoms is all it takes to enhance the body’s ability to fight off sicknesses. Many around us have noticed the differences in their health.  It is remarkable.

Weight Loss

I have known for a long time that my overweight condition needed addressing. Dr. Waldo offered to help “whenever I was ready.” Readiness was spurred on by an emergency open heart operation on my mother. Odds were highly in my favor that I would need the same surgery 25 years from now. I was READY. Dr. Waldo offered confidentiality, instruction, encouragement, and support. He took time to teach me about the approach he recommended. He encouraged my efforts and celebrated the successes. In just 8 weeks I have lost over 26 pounds! It took me 16 weeks to lose the same amount on a different weight loss program. It isn’t a diet, it is for life. I feel great, am not hungry, do not get headaches, am satisfied and energetic. It is not hard to see that I can do this for life. My life and health depend on it.

You will be asked to arrive 10 minutes ahead of your appointment in order to fill out paperwork that will help Dr. Waldo provide you with the best care possible. Please bring a pair of shorts to change into during the examination. Do not be discouraged if you are only one of two patients in the office.  We arrange the schedule in order for the doctor to be focused intently on you during this time.

The length of the exam is dependent upon the complexity of the problem. On average, Dr. Waldo will spend approximately 45-60 minutes on your first visit beginning with a detailed history coinciding with the form you provided. Following the history will be a comprehensive physical examination involving orthopedic, neurological, muscle and joint, posture, gait, and palpatory evaluation.  The results will be collected in order to prepare an accurate diagnosis and evaluate if chiropractic is best suited for your condition.  Dr. Waldo will refer you to another specialized health care provider if appropriate.  Remember that you have the ultimate decision and nothing will be done without your consent.

After the history and physical exam you will receive treatment in order to decrease pain or discomfort if deemed appropriate by Dr. Waldo.  In some cases treatment might be withheld until the next visit, or possibly even later that day, in order to assess your situation completely and provide the best care possible.  Some treatments might consist of spinal manipulation, Infrared Light Therapy, Graston Technique, massage, ice, or heat depending upon your condition.  Dr. Waldo may also suggest nutritional supplements, in-home exercises, and self-treatment advice to speed up your recovery.

Your Report of Findings

Researchers at a Minnesota hospital involving cardiac patients found that educated patients healed twice as fast. Dr. Waldo will provide you with a summary of your condition during your First Visit, however, the detailed, individualized report will be provided on your very next visit.  This is called the Report of Findings.  Here many of your questions and concerns will be addressed fully along with the recommended course of care.  The reason we wait until the second visit is simple, human attention span is limited.  Your first visit may be long, the exam will be provocative, and the time spent from when you leave the office and return will provide valuable information for your treatment plan.

Most of our patients come to our office with four basic questions and the 15-20 minute report of findings will answer these four questions along with any other questions you may have:

1. What's wrong with me?

2. Can chiropractic help?

3. If so, how long will it take?

4. How much will it cost?
